Activities Overview
The PTA organizes a wide range of events, fundraisers, programs, and community traditions throughout the school year. These activities bring families together, support our students and teachers, and strengthen the CHB community. Below youβll find an overview of our annual events as well as year-round programs supported by the PTA.

The PTA celebrates both the beginning and end of the school year in a variety of ways. Before school officially begins, we provide a Back-to-School Lunch for teachers. On the first day of school, we host a Welcome Back Coffee for parents and caregivers. Later in September, families gather for the CHB Family Picnicβalways a highlight for both kids and adults. In June, we come together again at the CHB playground for an evening of BBQ, friends, and fun to celebrate the end of the school year.
Pancake Breakfast

Hosted by the CHB Fathersβ Group, the Pancake Breakfast is fun and delicious. The dads cook pancakes, bacon, and coffee while families gather in the cafeteria for a morning feast. Come early, as the food goes quickly! The CHB Book Fair is often held during this event as well.
Parent Fall Party

The Parent Fall Party is a chance for CHB parents and caregivers to socialize and connect with one another. Itβs a wonderful opportunity to meet new families, reconnect with old friends, and strengthen our school community.
Holiday Cookie Banquet for Teachers and Staff

During the busy holiday season, CHB families bake cookies for teachers and staff members to take home to their own families and enjoy during the holiday break. This tradition is a sweet way to show appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the CHB staff.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day ON of Service

This special program honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and brings the CHB community together for a day of education, service, and reflection. Families gather in the gymnasium to prepare meals for local homebound seniors. Children participate in art projects and activities that explore the Civil Rights Movement and Dr. Kingβs message of equality, hope, and community.
Family Formal Dance Party

The Family Dance Party is a fun evening for the entire CHB community. Families enjoy food, music, and dancing together with a DJ who keeps the energy high with songs and games. A quiet room is available for families who need a calmer space. Many families enjoy dressing up for this special βfamily date night,β though all attire is welcome.
Eco Action Week

Eco Action Week brings hands-on environmental learning to life for CHB students. Families and community members are invited to participate in activities that support the schoolβs Environmental Science magnet theme and help students explore sustainability in fun and meaningful ways.
Talent Show

The CHB Talent Show is open to students in all grades. Students who participate in rehearsals have the opportunity to perform for the community. The show celebrates the incredible talents of CHB students, including singing, dancing, comedy, magic, martial arts, poetry, and more.
For the Love of Skating

This popular event invites CHB families to spend a Sunday afternoon skating together with friends and classmates. Itβs a fun and active way for our community to connect outside the classroom.
CHB Spring Fling

Spring Fling is the PTAβs signature adult fundraiser. Parents and caregivers come together for an evening of great food, music, games, and an exciting tricky tray raffle with themed baskets. The event raises funds to support important programs and initiatives at CHB while giving our community a chance to relax and celebrate together.
Teacher Appreciation Week

During Teacher Appreciation Week, the PTA celebrates the incredible educators and staff who support our students every day. Throughout the week, families contribute treats and small surprises for the staff lounge, and the celebration culminates in a special luncheon prepared by CHB families.

The Eco-Fair celebrates spring and CHBβs Environmental Science magnet theme with hands-on activities, demonstrations, and community partners. Families may participate in projects such as building birdhouses, creating art from natural materials, or learning about sustainable gardening and renewable energy.

Artist in Residence (AiR)

The Artist in Residence program brings professional artists into the school each year to work directly with students through creative workshops and collaborative projects. Programs may include theater, visual arts, poetry, dance, or other artistic disciplines. Each grade typically participates in a project that connects to the curriculum and encourages students to explore new forms of creative expression.
After School Enrichment (ASE)

The After School Enrichment program provides families with affordable, engaging after-school classes. Courses are taught by CHB teachers and experienced instructors who teach enrichment programs throughout the district. Classes are designed to be fun, interactive, and skill-building, with offerings that may include tennis, chess, animal science, music production, and other creative or academic topics. Tuition assistance is available upon request.

The Visiting Author program supports CHBβs strong focus on reading and writing by inviting authors and illustrators to visit the school throughout the year. Students have the opportunity to hear about the creative process, ask questions, and gain deeper insight into storytelling and writing.
