Dear Families and Caregivers,

Welcome to April! As we head into the final stretch of the school year, we are beginning the month by honoring Autism Awareness and Acceptance. Our goal this month—and every month—is to foster an environment where every learner thrives. By practicing empathy and understanding, we continue to build a school culture where everyone is seen, belongs, and succeeds.

Take Your Child to Work Day – April 23: If you are planning to bring your child to work with you, please be sure to notify the office via email, Genesis, or the attendance line so their absence is marked appropriately.

NJSLA-Adaptive: CHB will conduct our annual State Assessment, NJSLA-Adaptive, on the dates listed below. Grades 3, 4, and 5 will all participate in ELA and Math, while grade 5 will also participate in a Science assessment.

  • April 27: ELA – Reading
  • April 28: ELA – Writing
  • April 29: Math
  • May 4 & 5: Grade 5 – Science

Please make sure your child has a good night’s sleep, eats a healthy breakfast, and arrives at school on time. While I understand emergencies will happen, please try not to schedule extracurricular events or family excursions during the dates your child will be tested. If your child is absent, they will need to take the test during make-up dates. Students are never permitted to have cell phones or unauthorized electronic devices in the testing room. All phones and watches must be turned off and kept in lockers. Thank you for your cooperation.
